Privacy Policy
Data Protection
We have written this privacy policy (version 23.12.2020-321244037) to explain to you, in accordance with the provisions of the General Data Protection Regulation (EU) 2016/679, what information we collect, how we use data, and what options you, as a visitor to this website, have.
Unfortunately, it is in the nature of things that these explanations sound very technical, but we have tried to describe the most important things as simply and clearly as possible.
Automatic Data Storage
When you visit websites today, certain information is automatically created and stored, and this is also true for our website.
When you visit our website, as you are doing right now, our web server (the computer on which this website is stored) automatically saves data such as:
-
the address (URL) of the accessed website
-
browser and browser version
-
the operating system used
-
the address (URL) of the previously visited page (referrer URL)
-
the hostname and IP address of the device from which access is made
-
date and time
This data is stored in files (web server log files). Web server log files are generally stored for two weeks and then automatically deleted. We do not pass this data on but cannot exclude the possibility that this data may be viewed if illegal behavior is suspected.

Cookies
Our website uses HTTP cookies to store user-specific data. Below, we explain what cookies are and why they are used, to help you better understand the following privacy policy.
WHAT EXACTLY ARE COOKIES?
Whenever you browse the internet, you use a browser. Well-known browsers include Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Internet Explorer, and Microsoft Edge. Most websites store small text files in your browser, known as cookies.
There’s no denying it: cookies are really helpful. Almost all websites use cookies, more specifically HTTP cookies, as there are other types of cookies for different applications. HTTP cookies are small files that our website stores on your computer. These cookie files are automatically placed in the cookie folder, essentially the "brain" of your browser. A cookie consists of a name and a value. When defining a cookie, one or more attributes must also be specified.
Cookies store certain user data, such as language preferences or personal website settings. When you revisit our site, your browser sends the "user-specific" information back to our site. Thanks to cookies, our website knows who you are and offers you your usual standard settings. In some browsers, each cookie has its own file, while in others, such as Firefox, all cookies are stored in a single file.
There are both first-party and third-party cookies. First-party cookies are created directly by our website, while third-party cookies are created by partner websites (e.g., Google Analytics). Each cookie is unique and stores different data. The expiration time of a cookie also varies, from a few minutes to several years. Cookies are not software programs and do not contain viruses, Trojans, or other "malware." Cookies also cannot access information on your PC.
Here’s an example of what cookie data might look like:
-
Name: _ga
-
Expiration time: 2 years
-
Purpose: Differentiating website visitors
-
Example value: GA1.2.1326744211.152321244037
A browser should support the following minimum sizes for cookies:
-
A cookie should be able to store at least 4096 bytes
-
At least 50 cookies should be stored per domain
-
A total of at least 3000 cookies should be supported
WHAT TYPES OF COOKIES ARE THERE?
The specific types of cookies we use depend on the services we use and are explained in the following sections of the privacy policy. At this point, we would like to briefly introduce the different types of HTTP cookies.
There are four types of cookies:
-
Strictly Necessary Cookies
These cookies are essential to ensure basic functions of the website. For example, these cookies are necessary if a user adds a product to their shopping cart, continues browsing other pages, and later proceeds to checkout. These cookies prevent the shopping cart from being emptied, even if the user closes the browser window. -
Functional Cookies
These cookies collect information about user behavior and any error messages the user might encounter. They are also used to measure the website's loading time and behavior in different browsers. -
Targeted Cookies
These cookies enhance user-friendliness. For example, they save entered locations, font sizes, or form data. -
Advertising Cookies
These cookies, also known as targeting cookies, are used to deliver personalized advertising to the user. This can be convenient, but also sometimes annoying.
When you first visit a website, you are usually asked which types of cookies you would like to allow. Naturally, this decision is also stored in a cookie.

HOW CAN I DELETE COOKIES?
You have control over how and whether you want to use cookies. Regardless of the service or website the cookies come from, you always have the option to delete cookies, allow only certain ones, or disable them entirely. For example, you can block third-party cookies but allow all others.
To check which cookies are stored in your browser, or if you want to change or delete cookie settings, you can do so in your browser settings:
-
Chrome: Delete, enable, and manage cookies in Chrome
-
Safari: Manage cookies and website data with Safari
-
Firefox: Delete cookies to remove data stored by websites on your computer
-
Internet Explorer: Delete and manage cookies
-
Microsoft Edge: Delete and manage cookies
If you generally don't want cookies, you can set your browser to notify you whenever a cookie is about to be stored. This way, you can decide on a case-by-case basis whether to allow the cookie or not. The process varies depending on the browser. The easiest way is to search for instructions on Google using keywords like "delete cookies Chrome" or "disable cookies Chrome," or replace "Chrome" with the name of your browser, e.g., Edge, Firefox, Safari.
WHAT ABOUT MY PRIVACY?
Since 2009, the so-called "Cookie Guidelines" have been in place, stating that storing cookies requires your consent. However, reactions to these guidelines vary across EU countries. In Germany, the cookie guidelines were not implemented as national law. Instead, the regulation was largely implemented in § 15 (3) of the Telemedia Act (TMG).
If you'd like to learn more about cookies and don't mind technical documentation, we recommend checking out https://tools.ietf.org/html/rfc6265, the "HTTP State Management Mechanism" by the Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF).

Storage of Personal Data
Personal data that you submit to us electronically on this website, such as your name, email address, address, or other personal information through a form or blog comment, will be used by us solely for the stated purpose, securely stored, and not shared with third parties.
We use your personal data only for communication with visitors who explicitly wish to be contacted and for processing the services and products offered on this website. We do not share your personal data without your consent; however, we cannot exclude the possibility that data may be accessed in the event of illegal activity.
If you send us personal data via email – outside of this website – we cannot guarantee secure transmission and protection of your data. We recommend that you never send confidential information unencrypted via email.
The legal basis for processing your data, according to Article 6(1)(a) of the GDPR (Lawfulness of Processing), is that you provide us with your consent to process the data you have entered. You can revoke this consent at any time – a simple email is sufficient. Our contact details can be found in the imprint.
Rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR)
According to the provisions of the GDPR, you have the following rights:
-
Right to rectification (Article 16 GDPR)
-
Right to erasure (“right to be forgotten”) (Article 17 GDPR)
-
Right to restriction of processing (Article 18 GDPR)
-
Right to notification – obligation to notify in connection with the rectification or erasure of personal data or the restriction of processing (Article 19 GDPR)
-
Right to data portability (Article 20 GDPR)
-
Right to object (Article 21 GDPR)
-
Right not to be subject to a decision based solely on automated processing – including profiling (Article 22 GDPR)
If you believe that the processing of your data violates data protection law or if your data protection rights have been infringed in any other way, you can file a complaint with the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information (BfDI).

Analysis of Visitor Behavior
In the following privacy policy, we inform you whether and how we evaluate the data from your visit to this website. The evaluation of the collected data is usually done anonymously, and we cannot trace your behavior on this website back to you personally.
More information about how to object to this evaluation of visitor data can be found later in this privacy policy.
TLS Encryption with HTTPS
We use HTTPS to securely transmit data over the internet (data protection by design, Article 25(1) of the GDPR). By using TLS (Transport Layer Security), a protocol for secure data transmission over the internet, we can ensure the protection of confidential data. You can recognize the use of this secure data transmission by the small padlock symbol in the upper left corner of the browser and the use of the HTTPS scheme (instead of HTTP) in our web address.
Google Fonts Privacy Policy
On our website, we use Google Fonts, which are the "Google Fonts" provided by Google Inc. For the European region, the company responsible for all Google services is Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland).
You do not need to register or provide a password to use Google Fonts. Additionally, no cookies are stored in your browser. The files (CSS, fonts) are requested via the Google domains fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com. According to Google, requests for CSS and fonts are completely separate from other Google services. If you have a Google account, you do not need to worry that your Google account data will be transmitted to Google when using Google Fonts. Google collects information about the use of CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) and the fonts used and stores this data securely. We will explore in detail how exactly this data is stored.

WHAT ARE GOOGLE FONTS?
Google Fonts (formerly Google Web Fonts) is a directory of over 800 fonts that Google provides to its users for free. Many of these fonts are published under the SIL Open Font License, while others are released under the Apache License. Both are free software licenses.
WHY DO WE USE GOOGLE FONTS ON OUR WEBSITE?
With Google Fonts, we can use fonts on our own website without having to upload them to our own server. Google Fonts is an important component in maintaining the quality of our website. All Google fonts are automatically optimized for the web, which saves data volume and is especially advantageous for mobile devices. When you visit our website, the small file size ensures fast loading times. Additionally, Google Fonts are secure web fonts. Different rendering systems in various browsers, operating systems, and mobile devices can cause errors, sometimes distorting text or entire websites visually. Thanks to the fast Content Delivery Network (CDN), Google Fonts avoids cross-platform issues. Google Fonts supports all major browsers (Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera) and works reliably on most modern mobile operating systems, including Android 2.2+ and iOS 4.2+ (iPhone, iPad, iPod). We use Google Fonts to present our entire online service as beautifully and consistently as possible.
WHAT DATA DOES GOOGLE STORE?
When you visit our website, the fonts are loaded from a Google server. This external request transmits data to Google’s servers, meaning that Google becomes aware that you or your IP address has visited our website. The Google Fonts API is designed to reduce the collection, storage, and use of end-user data to what is necessary for the proper delivery of fonts. API stands for "Application Programming Interface" and acts as a data transmitter in software environments.
Google securely stores CSS and font requests at its servers. With the usage data collected, Google can determine the popularity of individual fonts. Google publishes the results on internal analytics sites such as Google Analytics. Additionally, Google uses data from its own web crawler to detect which websites use Google Fonts. These data are published in the Google Fonts BigQuery database. Entrepreneurs and developers use Google’s BigQuery web service to analyze and move large amounts of data.
However, it is important to note that each Google Fonts request also transmits information such as language settings, IP address, browser version, browser screen resolution, and browser name to Google’s servers. Whether this data is also stored is not clearly identifiable, as Google does not communicate this explicitly.

HOW LONG AND WHERE ARE THE DATA STORED?
Google stores requests for CSS assets on its servers, which are mainly located outside the EU, for one day. This allows us to use fonts through a Google stylesheet. A stylesheet is a template used to easily and quickly change the design or fonts of a website.
Font files are stored by Google for one year. The goal is to improve website loading times. When millions of websites reference the same fonts, they are cached after the first visit and immediately reappear on all subsequent websites you visit. Google occasionally updates font files to reduce file size, increase language support, and improve design.
HOW CAN I DELETE MY DATA OR PREVENT DATA STORAGE?
The data stored by Google for one day or one year cannot be easily deleted. This data is automatically transmitted to Google when you visit the site. To delete this data early, you must contact Google Support at https://support.google.com/?hl=de&tid=321244037. The only way to prevent data storage is to avoid visiting our site.
Unlike other web fonts, Google allows unrestricted access to all of its fonts. This gives us unlimited access to a wide variety of fonts, allowing us to optimize the appearance of our website. More information about Google Fonts can be found at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq?tid=321244037. Although Google addresses privacy concerns on this page, detailed information about data storage is not included. It is relatively difficult to get precise information from Google about stored data.
You can read more about what data Google collects and how it is used at https://www.google.com/intl/de/policies/privacy/.
Google Fonts Local Privacy Policy
On our website, we use Google Fonts from Google Inc. For the European region, Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland) is responsible. However, we have embedded Google fonts locally, meaning they are stored on our web server, not Google's servers. As a result, there is no connection to Google servers, and thus no data transmission or storage.

WHAT ARE GOOGLE FONTS?
Google Fonts, formerly known as Google Web Fonts, is an interactive directory of over 800 fonts that Google provides for free. With Google Fonts, you could use fonts without having to upload them to your own server. However, to prevent any data transmission to Google servers, we have downloaded the fonts onto our server. In this way, we comply with data protection regulations and do not send any data to Google Fonts.
Unlike other web fonts, Google allows us unrestricted access to all its fonts. This gives us unlimited access to a vast array of fonts, enabling us to optimize the appearance of our website. More information about Google Fonts and further questions can be found at https://developers.google.com/fonts/faq?tid=321244037.
OpenStreetMap Privacy Policy
We have integrated map sections from the online mapping tool "OpenStreetMap" on our website. This is an open-source mapping service that we access via an API (interface). This feature is provided by the OpenStreetMap Foundation, St John’s Innovation Centre, Cowley Road, Cambridge, CB4 0WS, United Kingdom. By using this map function, your IP address is forwarded to OpenStreetMap. In this privacy policy, we explain why we use OpenStreetMap, where data is stored, and how you can prevent this data storage.
WHAT IS OPENSTREETMAP?
The OpenStreetMap project was launched in 2004 with the goal of creating a free world map. Users worldwide collect data about buildings, forests, rivers, and roads, resulting in a vast, user-created digital map over the years. While the map is not completely comprehensive, it is well populated with data in most regions.
WHY DO WE USE OPENSTREETMAP ON OUR WEBSITE?
Our website is meant to be helpful, and it achieves this by making information easy and quick to find. While this includes our services and products, we also aim to provide additional useful information. For this reason, we use the OpenStreetMap mapping service, which allows us to show you exactly how to find our company. The map provides the best route to us, making your journey to our location effortless.

WHAT DATA IS STORED BY OPENSTREETMAP?
When you visit one of our web pages that includes OpenStreetMap, user data is transmitted to and stored by the service. OpenStreetMap collects information such as your interactions with the digital map, your IP address, data about your browser, device type, operating system, and the date and time you used the service. Tracking software is also used to record user interactions. According to their own privacy policy, OpenStreetMap uses the analytics tool "Piwik" for this purpose.
The collected data is made available to the relevant working groups of the OpenStreetMap Foundation. According to the company, personal data is not shared with other individuals or companies unless required by law. While Piwik stores your IP address, it is stored in a truncated form.

Mapbox is an online mapping tool (open-source mapping) accessed via an API (interface). By using this tool, your IP address and other data are transmitted to and stored by Mapbox. This privacy policy will explain the functions of the tool, why we use it, what data is stored, and how you can prevent that storage.
WHAT IS MAPBOX API?
Mapbox is an American software company that offers custom online maps for websites. With Mapbox, we can illustrate content on our website or, for example, display directions graphically. The maps can be easily embedded into our website with small code snippets (JavaScript code). Mapbox offers a mobile-friendly environment, provides real-time routing information, and visualizes data for better user experience.

WHY DO WE USE THE MAPBOX API ON OUR WEBSITE?
We want to offer you comprehensive service on our website, and this shouldn't just stop at our products or services. All of our content should be beneficial to you, including features like maps that can help show you the way to our company.
WHAT DATA IS STORED BY THE MAPBOX API?
When you visit one of our subpages that contains an embedded online map from Mapbox, data about your user behavior may be collected and stored. This is necessary for the proper functioning of the embedded online maps. In some cases, data collected by Mapbox may be shared with third parties, although no personal data is shared. This can happen either for legal reasons or when Mapbox explicitly contracts another company. The map content is transmitted directly to your browser and embedded into our website.
Mapbox automatically collects certain technical information when requests are made to the APIs. This includes your IP address, browser information, operating system, the content of the request, limited location and usage data, the URL of the visited website, and the date and time of the website visit. According to Mapbox, this data is used solely to improve their own products. Mapbox also collects randomly generated IDs to analyze user behavior and determine the number of active users.
When you interact with an online map on one of our subpages, Mapbox sets the following cookie in your browser:
-

You have the right to access your personal data at any time and object to its use and processing. You can manage, delete, or disable any cookies set by the Mapbox API in your browser. Keep in mind that disabling cookies may cause the service to function only partially. Since each browser handles the management, deletion, or deactivation of cookies differently, here are links to guides for the most popular browsers:
-
Chrome: Delete, enable, and manage cookies in Chrome
-
Internet Explorer: Delete and manage cookies
-
Microsoft Edge: Delete and manage cookies
For more information about Mapbox’s data processing, we recommend reading the company's privacy policy at https://www.mapbox.com/legal/privacy.
Google Analytics Privacy Policy
We use the analytics tracking tool Google Analytics (GA) from the American company Google Inc. For European users, the company responsible for all Google services is Google Ireland Limited (Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland). Google Analytics collects data about your actions on our website. For instance, if you click on a link, this action is stored in a cookie and sent to Google Analytics. The reports we receive from Google Analytics allow us to improve our website and services according to your preferences. Below, we explain more about this tracking tool and inform you specifically about what data is stored and how you can prevent it.
WHAT IS GOOGLE ANALYTICS?
Google Analytics is a tracking tool used to analyze the traffic on our website. It works by embedding a tracking code into the code of our website. When you visit our website, this code records various actions you perform. Once you leave our website, this data is sent to the Google Analytics servers, where it is stored.
Google processes the data and provides us with reports about your user behavior. These reports can include the following:
-
Audience Reports: These reports help us better understand our users and know who is interested in our service.
-
Ad Reports: Ad reports allow us to analyze and improve our online advertising efforts.
-
Acquisition Reports: These reports give us insights into how we can attract more people to our service.
-
Behavior Reports: These reports show us how you interact with our website, including the paths you take and which links you click.
-
Conversion Reports: A conversion is when you perform a desired action, such as becoming a buyer or a newsletter subscriber. These reports help us understand how our marketing efforts influence conversions and how we can improve our conversion rate.
-
Real-time Reports: These reports show us what is happening on our website in real time, such as how many users are currently reading this text.
WHY DO WE USE GOOGLE ANALYTICS ON OUR WEBSITE?
Our goal with this website is clear: we want to provide you with the best possible service. The statistics and data from Google Analytics help us achieve this goal. The data gives us a clear picture of the strengths and weaknesses of our website. On one hand, it helps us optimize our site to make it easier for interested users to find us through Google. On the other hand, the data helps us better understand you as a visitor, allowing us to improve our website to offer you the best service possible. Additionally, the data helps us make our advertising and marketing more personalized and cost-effective, ensuring that our products and services are only shown to people who are genuinely interested in them.
WHAT DATA IS STORED BY GOOGLE ANALYTICS?
Google Analytics uses a tracking code to create a random, unique ID, which is linked to your browser cookie. This allows Google Analytics to recognize you as a new user. When you revisit our site, you are recognized as a returning user. All collected data is stored with this user ID, which allows the creation of pseudonymous user profiles.
Your interactions on our website, such as clicks and actions, are measured using cookies and App Instance IDs. If you use other Google services (such as a Google account), the data generated by Google Analytics can be linked to third-party cookies. Google does not share Google Analytics data unless we, as the website operator, authorize it. Exceptions occur when required by law.
Here are the main cookies used by Google Analytics:

HOW LONG AND WHERE ARE THE DATA STORED?
Google has servers located around the world, with the majority of them in the United States. As a result, your data is often stored on American servers. You can find a detailed list of where Google’s data centers are located here: Google Data Centers Locations.
Your data is distributed across various physical storage devices. This has the advantage of faster access to the data and better protection against tampering. Each Google data center has emergency programs in place to protect your data. For example, if Google’s hardware fails or natural disasters disrupt servers, the risk of service interruption remains low.
By default, Google Analytics sets the retention period for your user data to 26 months. After that, your user data is deleted. However, we have the option to choose the retention period for user data ourselves. The available options are:
-
Deletion after 14 months
-
Deletion after 26 months
-
Deletion after 38 months
-
Deletion after 50 months

No automatic deletion
Once the selected retention period expires, data is deleted on a monthly basis. This retention period applies to data linked to cookies, user IDs, and advertising IDs (e.g., DoubleClick cookies). Reporting results are based on aggregated data, which are stored independently of individual user data. Aggregated data are combined from individual data points into a larger whole.
HOW CAN I DELETE MY DATA OR PREVENT DATA STORAGE?
Under European Union data protection laws, you have the right to access, update, delete, or restrict the processing of your data. You can prevent Google Analytics from using your data by using the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on for JavaScript (ga.js, analytics.js, dc.js). You can download and install the browser add-on at https://tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout?hl=de. Please note that this add-on only disables data collection by Google Analytics.
If you want to disable, delete, or manage cookies (independent of Google Analytics), each browser has its own instructions:
-
Chrome: Delete, enable, and manage cookies in Chrome
-
Internet Explorer: Delete and manage cookies
-
Microsoft Edge: Delete and manage cookies
Google Analytics is an active participant in the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield Framework, which regulates the proper and secure transfer of personal data. More information can be found at Privacy Shield.
We hope this provides you with the key information regarding Google Analytics data processing. If you would like to learn more about the tracking service, we recommend these two links: Google Analytics Terms and Google Analytics Data Privacy FAQ.

Facebook Pixel Privacy Policy
We use the Facebook Pixel on our website, which is provided by Facebook. For this purpose, we have implemented a code snippet on our website. The Facebook Pixel is a piece of JavaScript code that loads a set of functions to help Facebook track your user actions if you arrived at our website via Facebook Ads. For example, if you purchase a product on our website, the Facebook Pixel is triggered, and your actions on our website are stored in one or more cookies. These cookies allow Facebook to match your user data (such as IP address, user ID) with the data from your Facebook account. Facebook then deletes this data. The data we collect through the pixel is anonymous to us and cannot be viewed directly but is used for advertising purposes. If you are a Facebook user and logged in, your visit to our website is automatically linked to your Facebook user account.
Our goal is to show our services and products only to people who are genuinely interested in them. With the help of the Facebook Pixel, we can tailor our advertising to better suit your preferences and interests. As a result, Facebook users (who have allowed personalized ads) see relevant advertisements. Additionally, Facebook uses the collected data for analysis and its own advertising purposes.
Below are some example cookies set by Facebook Pixel on a test page. Please note that these are sample cookies, and different cookies may be set depending on your interaction with our website.
